Predictive Learning Control for Unknown Nonaffine Nonlinear Systems

Predictive Learning Control for Unknown Nonaffine Nonlinear Systems
Predictive Learning Control for Unknown Nonaffine Nonlinear Systems: Theory and Applications
English | 2023 | ISBN: 9811988560 | 361 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 40 MB
This book investigates both theory and various applications of predictive learning control (PLC) which is an advanced technology for complex nonlinear systems. To avoid the difficult modeling problem for complex nonlinear systems, this book begins with the design and theoretical analysis of PLC method without using mechanism model information of the system, and then a series of PLC methods is designed that can cope with system constraints, varying trial lengths, unknown time delay, and available and unavailable system states sequentially. Applications of the PLC on both railway and urban road transportation systems are also studied. The book is intended for researchers, engineers, and graduate students who are interested in predictive control, learning control, intelligent transportation systems and related fields.

Porphyry, On Principles and Matter A Syriac Version of a Lost Greek Text with an English Translation, Introduction, and Glos

Porphyry, On Principles and Matter A Syriac Version of a Lost Greek Text with an English Translation, Introduction, and Glos
Porphyry, "On Principles and Matter": A Syriac Version of a Lost Greek Text with an English Translation, Introduction, and Glossaries By Yury Arzhanov
2021 | 194 Pages | ISBN: 3110745771 | PDF | 1 MB
The Syriac treatise published in the present volume is in many respects a unique text. Though it has been preserved anonymously, there remains little doubt that it belongs to Porphyry of Tyre. Accordingly, it enlarges our knowledge of the views of the most famous disciple of Descriptioninus. The text is an important witness to Platonist discussions on First Principles and on Plato's concept of Prime Matter in the Timaeus. It contains extensive quotations from Atticus, Severus, and Boethus. This text thus provides us with new textual witnesses to these philosophers, whose legacy remains very poorly attested and little known. Additionally, the treatise is a rare example of a Platonist work preserved in the Syriac language. The Syriac reception of Plato and Platonic teachings has left rather sparse textual traces, and the question of what precisely Syriac Christians knew about Plato and his philosophy remains a debated issue. The treatise provides evidence for the close acquaintance of Syriac scholars with Platonic cosmology and with philosophical commentaries on Plato's Timaeus.

Politics of Memory Making Slavery Visible in the Public Space

Politics of Memory Making Slavery Visible in the Public Space
Politics of Memory: Making Slavery Visible in the Public Space By Ana Lucia Araujo (editor)
2012 | 308 Pages | ISBN: 0415526922 | PDF | 6 MB
The public memory of slavery and the Atlantic slave trade, which some years ago could be observed especially in North America, has slowly emerged into a transnational phenomenon now encompassing Europe, Africa, and Latin America, and even Asia - allowing the populations of African descent, organized groups, governments, non-governmental organizations and societies in these different regions to individually and collectively update and reconstruct the slave past. This edited volume examines the recent transnational emergence of the public memory of slavery, shedding light on the work of memory produced by groups of individuals who are descendants of slaves. The chapters in this book explore how the memory of the enslaved and slavers is shaped and displayed in the public space not only in the former slave societies but also in the regions that provided captives to the former American colonies and European metropoles. Through the analysis of exhibitions, museums, monuments, accounts, and public performances, the volume makes sense of the political stakes involved in the phenomenon of memorialization of slavery and the slave trade in the public sphere.

Poetics of the Earth Natural History and Human History

Poetics of the Earth Natural History and Human History
Poetics of the Earth: Natural History and Human History By Augustin Berque
2019 | 214 Pages | ISBN: 0367200538 | PDF | 10 MB
Poetics of the Earth is a work of environmental philosophy, based on a synthesis of eastern and western thought on natural and human history. It draws on recent biological research to show how the processes of evolution and history both function according to the same principles.Augustin Berque rejects the separation of nature and culture which he believes lies at the root of the environmental crisis. This book proposes a three stage process of re-worlding (moving away from the individualized self to become a part of the common world), re-concretizing (understanding the meaning and historical development of words and things) and re-engaging (reconsidering the relationship between history and subjectivity at every level of being) in order to bring western thought on nature and culture into sustainable harmony and alignment. This book will be of great interest to students and scholars of environmental studies, environmental philosophy, Asian studies and the natural sciences.
