English | 2023 | ISBN: 3658387971 | 365 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 38 MB
This book offers an introduction to the topic of data science based on the visual processing of data. It deals with ethical considerations in the digital transformation and presents a process framework for the evaluation of technologies. It also explains special features and findings on the failure of data science projects and presents recommendation systems in consideration of current developments. Machine learning functionality in business analytics tools is compared and the use of a process model for data science is shown. The integration of renewable energies using the example of photovoltaic systems, more efficient use of thermal energy, scientific literature evaluation, customer satisfaction in the automotive industry and a framework for the analysis of vehicle data serve as application examples for the concrete use of data science. The book offers important information that is just as relevant for practitioners as for students and teachers.

Andean Truths Transitional Justice, Ethnicity, and Cultural Production in Post-Shining Path Peru

Andean Truths Transitional Justice, Ethnicity, and Cultural Production in Post-Shining Path Peru
Andean Truths: Transitional Justice, Ethnicity, and Cultural Production in Post-Shining Path Peru By Anne Lambright
2016 | 256 Pages | ISBN: 1781382514 | PDF | 4 MB
Andean Truths: Transitional Justice, Ethnicity, and Cultural Production in Post-Shining Path Peru studies how literature, drama, film, and the visual arts contest the dominant narrative of national peace and reconciliation, as constructed by Peru's Truth and Reconciliation Commission.Established in 2001, the Commission aimed to 'investigate and make public the truth' of the country's twenty-year civil war, drawing upon homologous predecessors that provided a highly scripted model of truth-gathering and national healing. In this model, a predetermined collective mourning, catharsis, and reconciliation would move the nation forward in a consensually-determined fashion. Andean Truths shows that the Peruvian case proves internationally-endorsed models insufficient for arriving at the 'truth' of a national trauma that primarily affected disenfranchised ethnic groups, namely, the Andean Quechua speaking populations that accounted for the overwhelming majority of victims of the violence. Even as scholars recognize the importance of bringing multiple voices to the table in discussing post-Shining Path Peru, we are still trying to understand what a moreAndean-oriented transitional justice process might entail. Drawing on theories of decoloniality, intercultural communication and epistemological diversity (following scholars such as Enrique Dussel, Aníbal Quijano and Boaventura de Sousa Santos), Lambright analyzes cultural products, from thetheater of Yuyachkani to the narrative of Oscar Colchado Lucio, the art of Edilberto Jiménez, and other popular artistic responses, that highlight Andean understandings of the conflict and its aftermath. These cultural products challenge dominant understandings of the conflict and question Peru'sability to overcome its collective trauma without seriously reconsidering prevailing cultural paradigms.

Ancistrocladus Naphthylisoquinoline Alkaloids

Ancistrocladus Naphthylisoquinoline Alkaloids
A. Douglas Kinghorn, "Ancistrocladus Naphthylisoquinoline Alkaloids "
English | ISBN: 3031104560 | 2023 | 346 pages | PDF | 13 MB
This book describes a unique class of secondary metabolites, the mono- and dimeric-naphthylisoquinoline alkaloids. They exclusively occur in lianas of the palaeotropical Ancistrocladaceae and Dioncophyllaceae plant families. Their unprecedented structures include stereogenic centers and rotationally hindered, and therefore stereogenic, axes. Extended recent investigations on six Ancistrocladus species from Asia, as reported in this contribution, shed light on their fascinating phytochemical productivity, with over 100 intriguing natural products. This high chemodiversity arises from a similarly unique biosynthesis from acetate-malonate units, following a novel polyketidic pathway to plant-derived isoquinoline alkaloids. Some of the compounds show most promising anti-parasitic activities. Additionally, strategies for the regio- and stereoselective total synthesis of the alkaloids, including the directed construction of the chiral axis, are also presented.

Analysing Gender in Healthcare The Politics of Sex and Reproduction

Analysing Gender in Healthcare The Politics of Sex and Reproduction
Sarah Cooper, "Analysing Gender in Healthcare: The Politics of Sex and Reproduction "
English | ISBN: 3031087275 | 2022 | 256 pages | PDF | 4 MB
This book explores regulatory conundrums around adolescent sexual health, abortion and assisted reproductive technologies in the UK. In doing so, it seeks to examine the various stages at which women's reproductive health comes into contact with government action and assesses how these legal and policy fields are shaped through the conceptual lens of policy networks. Transformed expectations of women's roles, along with developed biological capabilities and understandings of gender and sexuality have driven an increasingly complex politics of sex and reproduction. The book argues that assumed medial control over these issues is overshadowed by government calculations of cost-effectiveness. Moreover, decisions on the design of programmes and levels of access continually reflect traditional family formation. The outcome is unsurprisingly the marginalisation of women in publicly funded healthcare, but with a clear further impact on gender and sex minorities. COVID-19 has disrupted these dynamics further, altering the manner in which previously inhibited patients engage with the NHS. As the pandemic recedes it has become more timely than ever to consider the future of gendered healthcare in the UK, and to question the likelihood of long term change in the ability of patients to inform health policy decisions. The book will appeal to scholars and students of gender and health policy, law and politics, as well as healthcare practitioners.
