Current Directions in Ostracism, Social Exclusion and Rejection Research

Current Directions in Ostracism, Social Exclusion and Rejection Research
Current Directions in Ostracism, Social Exclusion and Rejection Research By Selma Rudert (editor), Rainer Greifeneder (editor), Kipling Williams (editor)
2019 | 220 Pages | ISBN: 0815368135 | PDF | 3 MB
This edited volume provides an up-to-date review of current research on ostracism, social exclusion, and rejection. The book shows why exclusion and rejection occur, how they affect the excluded individuals, and the consequences they might have for individuals and organizations. Ostracism, social exclusion, and rejection are common phenomena, both at the individual level, such as ostracism in the classroom or at the workplace, as well as on a societal or even global scale, such as immigration or asylum policies. Examining key concepts such as the long-term effects of ostracism, the developmental and cultural perspective on ostracism, and the detrimental impact that social exclusion may have on individuals and societies, the authors provide an up-to-date overview of the research field and present new conceptual models and methodological approaches. Featuring discussion of promising areas, novel pathways for research, and cutting-edge developments, this is the most comprehensive bringing-together of research on this topic. The book gives both a broad state-of-the-art overviewof the field as well as discussing cutting-edge ideas and promising areas for future research; it is essential for students, researchers of social psychology, and policy makers interested in this field.

Creation and Death of Dinosaurs

Creation and Death of Dinosaurs
Creation and Death of Dinosaurs by Steve Preston
English | January 5, 2015 | ISBN: 1505972515 | 210 pages | EPUB | 4.37 Mb
Dinosaurs have been around for a long time, but the actual timing has only recently been modified to concur with actual timing rather than the nuclear decay timing methods that have lost support. This book re-times dinosaurs, explains many different theories about their demise, provides several theories about how they got here and explains why scientists are now finding un-fossilized dinosaurs that are less than 50 thousand year old. To do this we investigate a large amount of ancient text details, physical evidence, and research.

Conversos in the Responsa of Sephardic Halakhic Authorities in the 15th Century

Conversos in the Responsa of Sephardic Halakhic Authorities in the 15th Century
Dora Zsom, "Conversos in the Responsa of Sephardic Halakhic Authorities in the 15th Century"
English | 2014 | ISBN: 1463202393 | PDF | pages: 261 | 2.2 mb
Jews living in the Christian kingdoms of Iberia in the first centuries of the Reconquista encountered favorable conditions but growing social tensions between Jews and Christians erupted in Seville in the summer of 1391, when the kingdom of Castile experienced a period of interregnum. Disorder and riots spread to the rest of Castile, to Andalusia, and to Aragon. Jewish communities were decimated or destroyed, with many of their members killed or forcibly baptized. These events created the social group of converts to Christianity, called New Christians or conversos by Iberian Old Christians, that is, Christians of non-Semitic origin. This volume presents a systematic and detailed elaboration of the halakhic (legal) decisions written by five of the most important authors who wrote responsa concerning conversos between the years 1391 and 1492. The expulsion was an event that radically changed the perspectives of the Iberian conversos. The halakhic authorities were confronted with an absolutely new situation, in which they had to reformulate their position towards the conversos. This volume presents all the responsa written in connection with conversos by Isaac b. Sheshet Perfet, Simeon b. ema Duran and his descendants: Solomon b. Simeon Duran, ema b. Solomon Duran and Simeon b. Solomon Duran.

Continuous Groups for Physicists

Continuous Groups for Physicists
Continuous Groups for Physicists
English | 2022 | ISBN: 1009187058 | 299 Pages | PDF | 2.1 MB
Continuous Groups for Physicists is written for graduate students as well as researchers working in the field of theoretical physics. The text has been designed uniquely and it balances coverage of advanced and non-standard topics with an equal focus on the basic concepts for a thorough understanding. The book describes the general theory of Lie groups and Lie algebras, the passage between them, and their unitary/ Hermitian representations in the quantum mechanical setting. The four infinite classical families of compact simple Lie groups and their representations are covered in detail. Readers will benefit from the discussions on topics like spinor representations of real orthogonal groups, the Schwinger representation of a group, induced representations, systems of coherent states, real symplectic groups important in quantum mechanics, Wigner's theorem on symmetry operations in quantum mechanics, ray representations of Lie groups, and groups associated with non-relativistic and relativistic space-time.

Contemporary management principles

Contemporary management principles
Contemporary management principles By T. Brevis (editor), M. Vrba (editor)
2015 | 320 Pages | ISBN: 1485102294 | PDF | 6 MB
Major, ongoing change is the distinguishing characteristic of the business environment worldwide and it affects how contemporary organisations operate and deal with change. Organisations still need to do more with less. In addition, they need to provide for the needs of customers who, with more exposure to local and global markets, have higher expectations relating to the cost, quality, speed and innovation of the services and products they purchase from these organisations. Due to this global need for managing change, 'new' forms of organisation are replacing the 'old' traditional bureaucracy and presenting managers with unique challenges. Thus managers of contemporary organisations need to take a holistic view of the changes in their environments and need to apply a completely new set of skills. The approach towards contemporary management principles offered in this publication integrates discussions on vital managerial competencies and skills with information on traditional and essential managerial concepts that have been effective in the past and are still effectively used today in many business organisations. The emphasis is on the vital role of human resources in the success of an organisation and the need for modern managers to self-actualise and embrace the practice of life-long learning.
