The Saffron Genome (Compendium of Plant Genomes)

The Saffron Genome (Compendium of Plant Genomes)
The Saffron Genome
by Jyoti Vakhlu, Sheetal Ambardar, Seyed Alireza Salami, Chittaranjan Kole

English | 2022 | ISBN: 3031099990 | 302 pages | True PDF EPUB | 57.38 MB
This book is about Saffron ( Crocus sativus L.) that is the most expensive spice in the world. Though there are other books on saffron but none of them has comprehensive information on saffron genome, transcriptome, proteome, metabolome and microbiome. The book has been divided into five sections and 17 chapters that cover all the areas related to its cultivation, market & economy, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, tissue culture, microbiomics, metagenomics etc. In addition a chapter on molecular markers and their use in molecular genetic mapping in saffron that lacks genetic diversity as a sterile plant paves a way for selection of elite varieties based on the epigenetic variability. A section on in-vitro propagation elaborates on the corm production under controlled conditions. In summary this book encompasses most of the information available on this golden spice

The Reign of Emperor Antoninus Pius, AD 138-161

The Reign of Emperor Antoninus Pius, AD 138-161
The Reign of Emperor Antoninus Pius, AD 138161
by John S McHugh;

English | 2022 | ISBN: 1526773988 | 274 pages | True PDF EPUB | 42.04 MB
The reign of Antoninus Pius is widely seen as the apogee of the Roman Empire yet, due to gaps in the historical sources, his reign has been overlooked by modern historians. He is considered one of the five good emperors of the Antonine dynasty under whom the pax Romana enabled the empire to prosper, trade to flourish and culture to thrive. His reign is considered a Golden Age but this was partly an image created by imperial propaganda. There were serious conflicts in North Africa and Dacia, as well as a major revolt in Britain. On his death the empire stood on the cusp of the catastrophic invasions and rebellions that marked the reign of his successor Marcus Aurelius.

The Postwar Economic Order National Reconstruction and International Cooperation

The Postwar Economic Order: National Reconstruction and International Cooperation
by Albert O. Hirschman

English | 2023 | ISBN: 0231200587 | 366 pages | True EPUB | 6.38 MB
Years before he became renowned as one of the most original social scientists of the twentieth century, Albert O. Hirschman played an active role in the rebuilding of postwar Europe. Between 1946 and 1952, he worked as an economic analyst in the Research Division of the Federal Reserve Board of the United States, focusing on the reconstruction of Europe and the Marshall Plan. In that capacity, Hirschman wrote a number of reports about European economic policies, the first efforts at intra-European cooperation, and the uncertainties that surrounded the shaping of a new international economic order with the United States at its core.

The Philosophy of Mannerism From Aesthetics to Modal Metaphysics

The Philosophy of Mannerism From Aesthetics to Modal Metaphysics
The Philosophy of Mannerism
by van Tuinen, Sjoerd;

English | 2022 | ISBN: 1350322474 | 241 pages | True PDF | 9.99 MB
Sjoerd van Tuinen argues for the inseparability of matter and manner in the form of a group portrait of Leibniz, Bergson, Whitehead, Souriau, Simondon, Deleuze, Stengers, and Agamben. Examining afresh the 16th-century style of mannerism, this book synthesizes philosophy and aesthetics to demonstrate not only the contemporary relevance of artists such as Michelangelo or Arcimboldo but their broader significance as incorporating a form of modal thinking and perceiving.

The Mathematics Of Open Quantum Systems Dissipative And Non-unitary Representations And Quantum Measurements

The Mathematics Of Open Quantum Systems Dissipative And Non-unitary Representations And Quantum Measurements
Mathematics Of Open Quantum Systems, The: Dissipative And Non-unitary Representations And Quantum Measurements
by Konstantin A Makarov;Eduard R Tsekanovskii;

English | 2022 | ISBN: 9811241228 | 300 pages | True PDF EPUB | 34.65 MB
This book presents new developments in the open quantum systems theory with emphasis on applications to the (frequent) measurement theory.In the first part of the book, the uniqueness theorems for the solutions to the restricted Weyl commutation relations braiding unitary groups and semi-groups of contractions are discussed. The major theme involves an intrinsic characterization of the simplest symmetric operator solutions to the Heisenberg uncertainty relations, the problem posed by Jørgensen and Muhly, followed by the proof of the uniqueness theorems for the simplest solutions to the restricted Weyl commutation relations. The detailed study of unitary invariants of the corresponding dissipative and symmetric operators opens up a look at the classical Stone-von Neumann uniqueness theorem from a new angle and provides an extended version of the uniqueness result relating various realizations of a differentiation operator on the corresponding metric graphs.The second part of the book is devoted to mathematical problems of the quantum measurements under continuous monitoring. Among the topics discussed are the complementarity of the Quantum Zeno effect and Exponential Decay scenario in frequent quantum measurements, and a rigorous treatment, within continuous monitoring paradigm, of the celebrated 'double-slit experiment' where the renowned exclusive and interference measurement alternatives approach in quantum theory is presented in a way that is accessible for mathematicians. One of the striking applications of the generalized (1-stable) central limit theorem is the mathematical evidence of exponential decay of unstable states of the quantum pendulum under continuous monitoring.

The Inner World of Unaware Phenomena Pathways to Brain, Behavior, and Implicit Memory

The Inner World of Unaware Phenomena Pathways to Brain, Behavior, and Implicit Memory
The Inner World of Unaware Phenomena
by Bruce J. Diamond;Amy E. Learmonth;Katherine Makarec;

English | 2023 | ISBN: 1498555470 | 135 pages | True PDF EPUB | 6.4 MB
In this The Inner World of Unaware Phenomena: Pathways to Brain, Behavior, and Implicit Memory, authors Bruce J. Diamond, Amy E. Learmonth, and Katherine Makarec argue that there is an inner world within all of us that profoundly impacts our lives, and that memories, perceptions, tastes, preferences, biases, and beliefs are encoded and expressed on an unaware, largely non-conscious level. In other words, many aspects of our lives and actions are guided and influenced by factors about which we may know very little, but which nevertheless alter the quality, substance, and trajectory of our lives, our loves, our likes, and our dislikes. Drawing on novel experimental designs and computer and imaging-based technologies, the authors demonstrate that people can react to faces and places in measurable ways, despite the fact that they may profess to having never seen or visited these faces or places. The authors show that these unaware phenomena are not isolated instances, but rather that they permeate and influence virtually every aspect of our lives.
