The Coming of Austrian Fascism

The Coming of Austrian Fascism
Martin Kitchen, "The Coming of Austrian Fascism "
English | ISBN: 1138934631 | 2015 | 300 pages | EPUB | 416 KB
In February 1934 fighting broke out in Linz between government forces and the Social Democratic Party. Within hours Vienna was up in arms and the fighting soon spread to other parts of Austria. A few days later the party was destroyed and Austria seemed to many observers to have joined the ranks of fascist states. The violence of the fighting, particularly the shelling of the vast workers' housing complex, the Karl-Marx-Hof, and the summary execution of a number of leading figures in the fighting horrified the civilised world. This book, first published in 1980, looks at the importance of Austrian social democracy as one of the pillars of European Marxism and shows how it became a victim of the spread of fascism. The radical right and the peculiarities of Austrian varieties of fascism are given particular attention, and Dollfuss's own brand of fascistic state is analysed in terms of classic forms of fascism. Particular emphasis is placed on the economic and social problems of the Austrian Republic which led to a deepening of the political crisis and also to the foreign political ramifications of the problem. Although Dollfuss appeared to be determinedly anti-Nazi it was he who finally gave the order to destroy the Social Democratic Party little realising he was destroying himself. Thus, this study illustrates how socialism was strengthened rather than weakened by the fighting in February, and Austrian fascism far from halting German fascism, paved the way for its final triumph.

The Celiac Cookbook 25 fine Gluten-free Recipes
The Celiac Cookbook: 25 fine Gluten-free Recipes by Heston Brown
English | March 12, 2019 | ISBN: 1090271883 | 90 pages | EPUB | 2.51 Mb
Celiac disease is a shame because patients have to be mindful of the food they eat. If a patient tries to be adventurous and go for any food that contains gluten, it punishes them and leaves them in anguish. That is not cool. As a result, patients of this disease pay the utmost attention to the ingredients in food before they can have a taste, and most of the time, they have to take their eyes and mind away from what they would have loved to eat if it did not contain gluten.

The Cambridge History of Socialism

The Cambridge History of Socialism
Marcel van der Linden, "The Cambridge History of Socialism"
English | ISBN: 1108481345 | 2023 | 685 pages | PDF | 9 MB
This volume describes the various movements and thinkers who wanted social change without state intervention. It covers cases in Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia. The first part discusses early egalitarian experiments and ideologies in Asia, Europe and the Islamic world, and then moves to early socialist thinkers in Britain, France, and Germany. The second part deals with the rise of the two main currents in socialist movements after 1848: anarchism in its multiple varieties, and Marxism. It also pays attention to organisational forms, including the International Working Men's Association (later called the First International); and it then follows the further development of anarchism and its 'proletarian' sibling, revolutionary syndicalism - its rise and decline from the 1870s until the 1940s on different continents. The volume concludes with critical essays on anarchist transnationalism and the recent revival of anarchism and syndicalism in several parts of the world.

The Bones Us and Our Dice

The Bones Us and Our Dice
The Bones: Us and Our Dice By Will Hindmarch (editor)
2010 | 160 Pages | ISBN: 0981884016 | PDF | 25 MB
This isn't about math. It's about unlucky breaks and victory against all odds. This isn't about percentiles and probabilities. It's about late-night game-ending rolls where everything hinges on that climactic moment when one single die skitters across the table and determines the fate of a hero, a city, an empire... The Bones gathers writing about fandom and family―about gamers, camaraderie, and memories― and ties them together where they meet: our dice. These are essays and anecdotes about the ways dice make us crazy, about the stakes we play for and the thrill we get from not knowing what the next roll will bring. Step back and look at how we play with dice. Contributors include game designers Mike Selinker, Kenneth Hite, and Keith Baker, writer/actor Wil Wheaton, writers Ray Fawkes and James Lowder. (Subject to change.) Published in conjunction with GamePlayWright.net

The Body in History, Culture, and the Arts
Justyna Jajszczok, "The Body in History, Culture, and the Arts "
English | ISBN: 0367209551 | 2019 | 180 pages | EPUB | 2 MB
The aim of this book is to explore the body in various historical contexts and to take it as a point of departure for broader historiographical projects. The chapters in the volume present the ways in which the body constitutes a valuable and productive object of historical analysis, especially as a lens through which to trace histories of social, political, and cultural phenomena and processes. More specifically, the authors use the body as a tool for critical re-examination of particular histories of human experience, and of societal and cultural practices, thus contributing to the burgeoning area of body history in terms of both specific case studies as well as historiography in general.

The Art of Sales

The Art of Sales
The Art of Sales by Bülent Belbez
English | March 31, 2022 | ISBN: 1398481963 | 80 pages | EPUB | 0.71 Mb
I consider the art of sales to be a chess game well-thought, strategically planned and played carefully. One needs to know the rules of the game and the ethics. It is not only a matter of how well you know the game or play it but also a matter of human psychology, soul, character (which includes the elements of patience), fear, insights, instincts and correct observation without being hasty or careless which will help you prevail. It is a matter of how we behave when we are under pressure, when we are surprised and when we realise that we are not going to win. Can we control our nerves? Can we take it easy? Can we look for a different plan and adapt quickly when things go wrong? This is an art and it is more important than the knowledge. It comes with experience. The more you play, the more you are in control. The Art of Sales is based on exactly the same thinking. Play safely.
