Hitler's Spy Against Churchill The Spy Who Died Out in the Cold

Hitler's Spy Against Churchill The Spy Who Died Out in the Cold
English | 2022 | ISBN: 9781526768773 | 314 pages | True PDF EPUB | 37.5 MB
From the summer of 1940 until May 1941, nearly twenty German Abwehr agents were dropped by boat or parachute into England during what was known as Operation Lena, all in preparation for Hitler's planned invasion of England. The invasion itself would never happen and in fact, after the war, one of the Abwehr commanders declared that the operation was doomed to failure. There is no doubt that the operation did indeed become a fiasco, with almost all of the officers being arrested within a very brief period of time. Some of the men were executed, while others became double agents and spied for Britain against Germany. Only one man managed to stay at large for five months before eventually committing suicide: Jan Willem Ter Braak. Amazingly, his background and objectives had always remained unclear, and none of the other Lena spies had ever even heard of him. Even after the opening of the secret service files in England and the Netherlands over 50 years later, Jan Willem Ter Braak remained a 'mystery man', as the military historian Ladislas Farago famously described him. In this book, the author his near-namesake examines the short and tragic life of Jan Willem Ter Braak for the first time. Using in-depth research, he investigates the possibility that Ter Braak was sent to kill the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and discovers why his fate has remained largely unknown for so long.

Histopathology Atlas of Acute Radiation Syndrome and Delayed Effects in Rhesus Macaques

Histopathology Atlas of Acute Radiation Syndrome and Delayed Effects in Rhesus Macaques
English | 2022 | ISBN: 9780323913935 | 294 pages | True PDF EPUB | 107.13 MB
Histopathology Atlas of Acute Radiation Syndrome and Delayed Effects in Rhesus Macaques: Kidney, Lung, Heart, Intestine and Mesenteric Lymph Nodeprovides a thoroughly illustrated review of the tissue damage and reparative changes associated with standardized irradiation doses in rhesus macaques. In addition to time-sequenced, routinely stained histologic sections, the book presents results of numerous histochemical, immunohistochemical and chromogenic in-situ stains that provide insights into the pathogenesis of radiation-associated tissue injury and repair. This book is compiled and written by a board-certified veterinary pathologist with more than 40 years of experience in the interpretation of experimentally induced tissue alterations in laboratory animals.

Hinge Points An Inside Look at North Korea's Nuclear Program

Hinge Points An Inside Look at North Korea's Nuclear Program
English | 2023 | ISBN: 1503634450 | 384 pages | True EPUB | 19.83 MB
North Korea remains a puzzle to Americans. How did this country—one of the most isolated in the world and in the policy cross hairs of every U.S. administration during the past 30 years—progress from zero nuclear weapons in 2001 to a threatening arsenal of perhaps 50 such weapons in 2021?

High-pressure Molecular Spectroscopy

High-pressure Molecular Spectroscopy
English | 2022 | ISBN: 311066528X | 266 pages | True PDF EPUB | 24.13 MB
This book offers historical and state-of-the-art molecular spectroscopy methods and applications in dynamic compression science, aimed at the upcoming generation in physical sciences involved in studies of materials at extremes. It begins with addressing the motivation for probing shock compressed molecular materials with spectroscopy and then reviews historical developments and the basics of the various spectroscopic methods that have been utilized. Introductory chapters are devoted to fundamentals of molecular spectroscopy, overviews of dynamic compression technologies, and diagnostics used to quantify the shock compression state during spectroscopy experiments. Subsequent chapters describe all the molecular spectroscopic methods used in shock compression research to date, including theory, experimental details for application to shocked materials, and difficulties that can be encountered. Each of these chapters also includes a section comparing static compression results. The last chapter offers an outlook for the future, which leads the next-generation readers to tackling persistent problems.

High-Temperature Superconductivity Bipolaron Mechanism (De Gruyter Textbook)

High-Temperature Superconductivity Bipolaron Mechanism (De Gruyter Textbook)
English | 2022 | ISBN: 311078663X | 244 pages | True PDF EPUB | 17.22 MB
High temperature superconducting theory drew controversy after the discovery of superconductors at close to room temperatures. However, a consistent microscopic theory of HT superconductivity based on bipolaron mechanism leads to a better understanding of microscopic and macroscopic description. By presenting aspects of superconductivity now joined in a strict theory rather than separate models this work is especially useful for graduate students.

High Resolution Pressuremeters and Geotechnical Engineering The Measurement of Small Things

High Resolution Pressuremeters and Geotechnical Engineering The Measurement of Small Things
English | 2022 | ISBN: 1032060948 | 353 pages | True PDF | 49.37 MB
High Resolution Pressuremeters and Geotechnical Engineering focuses on pressuremeters with internal transducers that allow measurement of strength, stiffness and in situ reference stress. It outlines the principles and the basics of the technology, gives guidance on good practice and making reliable analysis, provides case studies, and compares the pressuremeter test with similar ones from other devices to enable engineers to make informed choices.
