Global Business An Economic, Social, and Environmental Perspective Third Edition Ed 3

Global Business An Economic, Social, and Environmental Perspective Third Edition Ed 3
Nader H. Asgary, "Global Business: An Economic, Social, and Environmental Perspective Third Edition Ed 3"
English | ISBN: 1648023452 | 2021 | 370 pages | PDF | 12 MB
The arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic throughout the globe at the end of 2019 turned global business upside down. It forced the closure of many businesses, disrupted global supply chains, reduced travel across borders, and created fear about face-to-face interactions. As the lockdowns in many countries created uncertainty about the future business activities, global business leaders were scrambling to find new strategies to safely re-establish their business relationships with their stakeholders. The existing historical economic, social, and racial injustice in the American society toward Black, Indigenous, and People of Color was compounded by the COVID-19. This led the movements of the Black Lives Matter to reenergize and become a global phenomenon. The horrific and sad death of George Floyd and many others triggered huge global movements to demand respect for human rights and dignity for all. Additionally, climate change and environmental degradation have caused unprecedented forests fires, more frequent and damaging hurricanes, and migration demand a revived global business book. This third edition of Global Business: An Economic, Social, and Environmental Perspective incorporates global business issues related to COVID-19, the economic and social injustice of BIPOC, and environmental degradation where it is appropriate. The reader will understand the impact of these critical global business issues discussed in the book through examples, case studies and thought-provoking discussions. These challenges require businesses, governments, and the active engagement of citizens to succeed. The aim of this book is to bring these issues for discussion and action by these stakeholders. Each chapter includes supplementary PowerPoint slides, Test-Bank, and Teaching notes that are available for instructors only.

German Philosophy in the Twentieth Century Dilthey to Honneth

German Philosophy in the Twentieth Century Dilthey to Honneth
German Philosophy in the Twentieth Century: Dilthey to Honneth By Julian Young
2022 | 280 Pages | ISBN: 1032246200 | PDF | 6 MB
The path taken by German philosophy in the twentieth century is one of the most exciting and controversial in the history of human thought, by turns radical and conservative and secular and religious. In this outstanding introduction, German Philosophy in the Twentieth Century: Dilthey to Honneth--the third and final volume in his trilogy--Julian Young examines the work of eight German philosophers and theologians of the period. He discusses their engagement with the deepest existential questions, their critique of the rationalization and mechanization of modernity, and their commitment to varying forms of liberalism, socialism, and democracy.Young introduces and assesses the thought of the following figures: Wilhelm Dilthey: the need for 'worldviews', and the distinction between 'explanation' and 'understanding' as a bulwark against the reduction of human beings to scientific quantaKarl Jaspers: existentialism, the challenge of nihilism, and the turn to theologyEdith Stein: the phenomenology of empathy, community versus society, and the turn to Catholicism Paul Tillich: philosophical theology and the 'theonomous' lifeMartin Buber: recovering the 'thou' in the face of modernity's reduction of everything to an 'it'; the kibbutz as the paradigm of a socialist communityHans Jonas: the mortal threat posed by the unknown consequences of modern technology and the ethics of responsibility for the planetErich Fromm: the 'art of loving' as a bulwark against hard and soft totalitarianism; the replacement of capitalism by communitarian socialismAxel Honneth: contemporary Hegelianism and the ethics and politics of recognition; the nature of real freedom.Lucidly and engagingly written, German Philosophy in the Twentieth Century: Dilthey to Honneth is essential reading for students of German philosophy, phenomenology, and theology and will also be of interest to students in related fields such as literature, political theory, and sociology.German Philosophy in the Twentieth Century: Weber to Heidegger (2018) and German Philosophy in the Twentieth Century: Lukács to Strauss (2020) are also available from Routledge.

Generalized Principle of Pattern Multiplication and Its Applications (Modern Antenna)
English | 2023 | ISBN: 9811935580 | 279 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 56 MB
This book investigates in detail the generalized principle of the pattern multiplication (GPPM) and its application to new phased array with high performances. It introduces the generalized element factor (GEF) to small aperture with multi-modes. Based on the GEF, the GPPM can be used to construct the wide-angle scanning array with the dual-port phase mode antenna. Further, a dual-port phase mode SSPPs antenna is proposed to scan in 3D free space. It is extended to two kinds of 1D arrays with 4 elements; both of them perform good 3D scanning with high gain and large range, which will improve future radar design and wireless communication.

Gender in Film and Video

Gender in Film and Video
Gender in Film and Video By Neal King, Rayanne Streeter, Jessica Herling, Talitha Rose
2019 | 190 Pages | ISBN: 1138206237 | PDF | 4 MB

This volume focuses on the breakdown of the categories (content, production, reception) that top-down production/distribution in TV and cinema tended to keep distinct. This text is for students in sociology, media studies, and women's and gender studies.

Gender Inequalities in Africa's Mining Policies A Study of Inequalities, Resource Conflict and Sustainability

Gender Inequalities in Africa's Mining Policies A Study of Inequalities, Resource Conflict and Sustainability
Francis Onditi, "Gender Inequalities in Africa's Mining Policies: A Study of Inequalities, Resource Conflict and Sustainability"
English | ISBN: 9811682518 | 2022 | 270 pages | PDF | 5 MB
This book develops a discursive 'equalitarian' theoretical framework for studying African mining ecosystem issues and policy interventions. The theory of 'equalitarianism' is developed as an alternative to the reductionist approach that has dominated post-colonial debates about the classical jus ad bellum requirements to empower women in development spaces. However, the classical approach narrows the debate down to "women issues," rather than the 'whole-of-society.' As a consequence of this reductionism, women continue to be devalued in the mining sector, characterized by poverty traps, power struggles, and a lack of capacity to engage in large-scale mining (LSM) activities. This book advances principles for a holistic approach, and spells out the implications for women across the mining value chain. Drawing on moral scholarship, the book poses that for women to gain access to strategic spaces in the mining sector, the drive for empowerment must be embedded within 'whole-of-society' principles. This book is of interest to scholars researching gender policy, public policy, political philosophy, conflictology, and human geography. It also offers practitioners a guide for evaluating their policy work on mainstreaming gender in the mining sector, presenting options for financing, forging partnership and planning for an inclusive economic development in Africa, and beyond.
