During the illness of Constantine I, peace with the Sasanian Empire of Shapur II was definitively broken, after 40 years of fulfillment of the treaty between the two powers. According to Roman sources the culprit was the Persian, who attacked Singara, Nusaybin and Amide (Diarbekir) in Mesopotamia, somewhat unsuccessfully because the invader could not permanently occupy what was conquered. It is in this moment when Constantine dies in Nicomedia, according to some sources after officially converting to Christianity; the inheritance of the Emperor initially mentioned five successors but, after the assassination of the nephews Anibalian and Dalmasius there were only three left over: his three sons, who after meeting in Pannonia accepted for the moment the situation. The first-born Constantine II would rule in Britannia, Gaul and Hispania and was recognized as the main Augustus; Constant assumed command over Illyria, Italy and Africa and the youngest, Constantius II, obtained the government in the East, but does not feel very secure in his throne and unleashes a massacre of relatives in Constantinople from which only two cousins, Gallus and Julian, escape because they are children.

Egypt: the MERIMDE culture begins in the Nile, small, half-buried huts made of reed mats, with plants of circular or elliptical shape. Large buried baskets served as silos for storing grain. They knew the livestock, raised rams, sheep, oxen, goats and pigs. They also owned dogs. They hunted hippos and crocodiles along the Nile. They also fished and collected molluscs. They did not have a specific cemetery area, the dead were buried next to the settlement, in oval holes, in a contracted position, without funerary objects and scarce offerings. The bodies of the children were simply thrown into the garbage pits. The oldest, delicately crafted pottery with decoration printed on "fishbone" denotes relations with the Near East, while objects found in the following strata indicate relations with Nubia to the south. The ceramics of the upper levels are made of clay and fragments of straw, which allowed us to obtain larger containers with more closed shapes, such as pots and bottles.
