"I've found this book to be a practical, hands-on manual that explains how OpenVMS system managers can integrate their systems with Linux, allowing the two platforms to work cooperatively and extend the processing capability of a computing environment. John clearly describes the features and benefits of both operating systems, so that you can evaluate which one is best for any given task. The hints, tips, and techniques you'll find here will help you create a heterogeneous OpenVMS and Linux computing environment to meet your needs today and tomorrow."Martin R. Licensing Loyalty Printers, Patrons, and the State in Early Modern France

Licensing Loyalty Printers, Patrons, and the State in Early Modern France
Licensing Loyalty: Printers, Patrons, and the State in Early Modern France By Jane McLeod
2011 | 280 Pages | ISBN: 0271037687 | PDF | 7 MB
In Licensing Loyalty, historian Jane McLeod explores the evolution of the idea that the royal government of eighteenth-century France had much to fear from the rise of print culture. She argues that early modern French printers helped foster this view as they struggled to negotiate a place in the expanding bureaucratic apparatus of the French state. Printers in the provinces and in Paris relentlessly lobbied the government, hoping to convince authorities that printing done by their commercial rivals posed a serious threat to both monarchy and morality. By examining the French state's policy of licensing printers and the mutually influential relationships between officials and printers, McLeod sheds light on our understanding of the limits of French absolutism and the uses of print culture in the political life of provincial France.

Learning by Expanding An Activity-Theoretical Approach to Developmental Research

Learning by Expanding An Activity-Theoretical Approach to Developmental Research
Yrjö Engeström, "Learning by Expanding: An Activity-Theoretical Approach to Developmental Research"
English | 2019 | pages: 340 | ISBN: 1107640105, 1107074428 | PDF | 12,0 mb
First published in 1987, Learning by Expanding challenges traditional theories that consider learning a process of acquisition and reorganization of cognitive structures within the closed boundaries of specific tasks or problems. Yrjö Engeström argues that this type of learning increasingly fails to meet the challenges of complex social change and fails to create novel artifacts and ways of life. In response, he presents an innovative theory of expansive learning activity, offering a foundation for understanding and designing learning as a transformation of human activities and organizations. The second edition of this seminal text features a substantive new introduction that illustrates the development and implementation of Engeström's theory since its inception.
